I need to stop digging graves for myself every time I make a small mistake.

Consider this: wherever you think you’re heading right now might turn out to take a completely different route down an entirely different path. And what looks like an ending might actually be the start of a brand new beginning.

You know how you either grow up in a Michael Jackson house or a Prince house? For me it was Michael Jackson. I could never decide whether I wanted to be Michael Jackson or marry him.” - Amy Winehouse

Every woman has it [femininity]. People don’t realize it. They think it’s about wearing a dress, or they think it’s about showing their boobs, or they think it’s about having long hair. And I think it’s an attitude and everyone has it.

i.e., Tabatha knows and preaches that the notion “real women have long hair” or “you don’t dress like a woman” is total bullshit. There’s no proper, single way to be a woman.
We [lesbians] do get stereotyped all the time. It bothers me because I don’t know what we’re ‘supposed’ to look like. I just don’t get it and I hate stereotypes whatever they are. It does annoy me. And all we can keep doing is showing all the different varieties of us proudly, and change whatever stereotypes are out there.

Considering yourself a serious reader doesn’t mean you can’t read light books. Loving to read means you sometimes like to turn your head off. Reading is not about being able to recite passages from Camus by memory. Loving young adult novels well past adolescence isn’t a sign of stunted maturity or intelligence. The most important thing about reading is not the level of sophistication of the books on your shelf. There is no prerequisite reading regimen for being a bookworm.

Chapter one. “He adored New York City. He idolised it all out of proportion.” Uh, no. Make that “He romanticised it all out of proportion.” Better. “To him, no matter what the season was, this was still a town that existed in black and white and pulsated to the great tunes of George Gershwin.” Uh… no. Let me start this over.
“I’ve always admitted that I’m ruled by my passions.”
